Equine Connection: A Gentle Group for Over 60s

A Small Group Experience for Older Adults Seeking Connection, Reflection & the Joy of Horses

Equine Connection is a calm, supportive, and engaging 4-week programme for adults aged 60 and over who are curious about the unique connection between humans and horses. Whether you’ve had a lifelong love of horses or are meeting them for the first time, this small-group experience invites you to slow down, connect, and explore the therapeutic power of being around horses—no riding involved.

Together, in a gentle and unhurried environment, we’ll share time with the horses and each other, engaging in simple, meaningful activities designed to support wellbeing, connection, and personal reflection.

What to Expect Each Week:

  • Gentle Equine Interaction - Spend time with our calm, friendly horses—brushing, walking, observing, and learning from their intuitive nature.

  • Connection & Conversation - Join like-minded peers in relaxed, supportive conversation, often sparked by the presence and responses of the horses.

  • Reflective Activities - Take part in light, guided exercises that encourage reflection and emotional insight—at your own pace, with no pressure.

  • Mindful Time Outdoors - Enjoy the fresh air and rural setting as we walk (at a slow, accessible pace) with the horses or simply sit and soak in the atmosphere.

  • Tea, Cake & Company - Each session ends with time to relax, share stories, and enjoy a warm drink and slice of homemade cake together.

This group is not about doing—it’s about being: with the horses, with others, and with yourself. No horse experience is needed, and all activities are done on the ground.

Why Horses?

Horses respond to us in the moment. They don’t judge, they don’t rush, and they notice what we often overlook. Spending time with them can help us:

  • Feel calmer and more grounded

  • Explore emotions gently and safely

  • Build confidence and reconnect with a sense of purpose and joy
