Alternative Provision
Alternative Provision for Learners Who Need a Different Approach

Supporting SEMH, SEND, and school-excluded learners in a calm, connection-based setting near Glastonbury, Somerset

🌱 For children and young people who find school overwhelming, unsafe, or unworkable—we offer something different.

At Serendipity, we provide nature-based, equine-assisted learning in a quiet, structured environment designed for learners who need more support than mainstream education can offer.

Our alternative provision is especially suited for those experiencing:

  • Social, emotional, or mental health challenges (SEMH)

  • School refusal or persistent non-attendance

  • Autism, ADHD, or other neurodivergence

  • Bullying, anxiety, or trauma

  • SEND with or without an EHCP

  • Gaps in placements (e.g., asylum seekers, relocations, awaiting special school)

🧠 A Safe, Individualised Approach
We create calm, non-judgemental spaces where learners can:

  • Work at their own pace

  • Build trust and confidence

  • Develop emotional regulation skills

  • Engage in meaningful, hands-on learning

All activities are adapted to the learner’s interests, strengths, and needs. Our setting is autism- and ADHD-aware, with minimal sensory overwhelm and a focus on relationship-based learning.

🐴 Why Equine-Assisted Learning?
We use non-riding, ground-based interactions with horses to support self-awareness, communication, and emotional growth. Horses respond to our internal state—mirroring feelings and behaviours—which helps learners understand themselves better and develop tools for managing emotions.
