1:1 at Serendipity

A dedicated space to learn, explore and work things through, shaped around you.

Sometimes we know that something needs attention before we know exactly what that something is.

1:1 at Serendipity offers time, space and individual attention for women who want to understand themselves better, develop skills, explore what matters to them and find ways of navigating life that feel more manageable and more like their own.

The experience is shaped around you, using the animals, land, practical activities and opportunities available at Serendipity as different ways into learning and exploration.

Before your first visit

Every 1:1 begins with a meeting.

Before we meet, I'll ask you to share a little about where you are and what brings you to Serendipity. We then arrange to meet for 30–45 minutes, without any expectation of animal contact, although you'll see the animals and get a feel for the setting.

It's a chance for us to talk, get a sense of one another and decide whether Serendipity feels like the right place for you.

There's no charge for this meeting.

Your first visit

Your first visit is two hours.

I'll meet you when you arrive, usually with a Labrador or two, and we'll walk together to the site. We'll make tea when we arrive — hydration is important, and there is something useful about having a little time to settle in and look around.

I'll already have some ideas about how we might use our time, based on our first meeting and what you've shared with me. I'll also be paying attention to you: what you notice, what interests you, what you respond to and where you are drawn to.

We might spend time observing the animals, work in the orchard, meet the ponies, groom, fill hay nets, pick fruit, walk, watch wildlife or get involved in one of the many practical jobs that keep the place going.

Sometimes something very ordinary becomes the most useful starting point.

The animals have their own personalities, needs and ways of communicating. The land changes with the seasons. There are things to learn, things to do and things to notice.

The setting, animals and natural environment become part of what we explore together.

As we get to know one another

If you decide to continue, visits can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

Each visit builds on what has gone before. I'll continue to think about and prepare possibilities specifically for you, while allowing room for what emerges on the day.

Over time, we might work more closely with the horses, explore movement and non-verbal communication, take an animal for a walk, develop practical skills, grow something, spend time observing the natural world or try something you've never done before.

Sometimes the learning is practical, sometimes it is about noticing a pattern, trying a different approach or discovering that something you thought you couldn't do is actually within reach.

Sometimes it is simply about finding pleasure in something that had stopped being noticed.

What you can develop

You will have opportunities to learn practical skills, try unfamiliar things, solve problems, work with animals, spend time outdoors and pay attention to what is happening around you.

Alongside that practical learning, there is space to notice how you respond when something is difficult, how you communicate, where your boundaries are and what helps you move forward when you feel stuck.

You may learn to influence a 500kg horse without force or words. You may discover ways of setting clear boundaries as relationship makers, not breakers. You may learn how to grow something for yourself, recognise what brings you joy, or find that you are capable of more than you had thought.

These are real skills and experiences, but they can also change the way you see yourself and what you believe you are capable of.

The intention is to help you become more comfortable in your own skin, more able to recognise and advocate for your own needs, develop a stronger sense of your own capability and be more trusting of yourself.

Continuing at your own pace

There is no fixed length of time for working together.

Some women may come for a short series of visits around something specific. Others may find that meeting regularly gives them the continuity they need to explore and develop things over a longer period.

Visits are usually two hours. Three-hour visits can also be arranged where a longer period would be useful.

The pace can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly, depending on what works for you.

This is your time, but you don't have to work out what to do with it alone.

This doesn't have to be a neat answer, just tell me what comes to mind.
